1.       Damunum Sine Injuriya 

 

Here ,

Damum  - Damages

Sine  - Without

Injuria – Injury

 

So , Damunum Sine Injuriya = Damages without Injury

Remedium – Remedy

Jus / Jure  - Law / Rights / Justices

Ubi, Ibi  - Where , there

 

Ubi Jus Ibi Remedium = Where there is Right there is Remedy

 

4.       Ubi Societas ibi jus

 

Here ,

Societas – Society

 

Ubi Societas ibi jus  = Where there is a Society, there is Law .

 

5.       Respondeat Superior

 

Here,

Respondate = to respond , to reply

Superior = Upper authority

 

Respondeat Superior = Let the Superior be responsible

 

6.       Qui facit Alium Facit per se  = he who acts through another, act himself

 

If someone doing work through medium of agent then it will be presumed that whatever work that agent is doing that is actually done by you.

 

7.       Caveat Emptor = Let the buyer beware

8.       Caveat Venditor = Let the seller beware

9.       De facto = In fact

10.   De arbitratione facto = A writ issued when an action was brought for a cause already settled by arbitration

11.   De novo = A new

12.   De Jure = In Law

13.   Ignorantia Facti Excusat

Here ,

Ignorantia – Ignorance

Excusat  - Excuse

 

Ignorantia Facti Excusat  = Ignorance of fact can be excused.

 

14.   Ignorantia Juris Non Excusat  = Ignorance of Law can not  be excused.

·         Actus Reus = Guilty Act

·         Mens Rea  = Guilty Mind

15.   Actus Non facit Reum nisi mens sit Rea =  The act itself does not make a man guilty unless his intention were so guilty mind

16.   Nemo Debet bis vexari

Here,

Nemo – Nobody

Bis – Twice , two times

Vex – Harassment

 

17.   Noscitory a sociis

 

Here,

Noscitor  - to recognize

Sociis – Allies / friends

 

Noscitory a sociis = Meaning of the word be ascertained by its association

18.   Ejuden Generis  = Of the same kind.

19.   Audi Alteram Partem

Here,

Audi – to hear

Alteram – Alternate / other

Partem – Party

 

Audi Alteram Partem = listen to the other side  , let the other side be heard as well .

 

20.   Nemo Debt Esse Judex in Propria Sua Causa

Nemo – nobody

Judex- Judge

Sua – one’s own

 

Nemo Debt Esse Judex in Propria Sua Causa = No Person can be a judge in his case .
